Data Availability Statement
The Journal of Biology Education Research (JBER) actively supports the transition towards Open Science and strongly encourages authors to share the raw data, research instruments, and other artifacts that support the findings of their study. Sharing research data enhances the reproducibility, transparency, and overall credibility of the published scientific literature.
-
Data Archiving: Authors are strongly encouraged to deposit their raw data (e.g., anonymized student assessment scores, survey tabulations, laboratory observation logs, field notes, or interview transcripts) in a recognized, secure public repository (such as Zenodo, Open Science Framework/OSF, Mendeley Data, or Figshare) prior to submission. Alternatively, data may be provided as Supplementary Files during the OJS submission process.
-
Data Availability Section: Authors must include a "Data Availability Statement" at the end of their manuscript (placed before the References section). This statement should clearly describe where the data associated with the paper can be found, providing valid hyperlinks or DOIs to the dataset if applicable. If the data cannot be shared publicly, the statement must clearly explain the justification.
-
Participant and Ethical Confidentiality: If the research involves human subjects (e.g., students, teachers) or sensitive biological field data, authors must guarantee that all shared data is completely anonymized and complies with relevant ethical guidelines. Any data that could potentially compromise the privacy, safety, or legal rights of the participants must not be made publicly available.
